Guided Tour to a Historic Forest Finn Farm

Join us on a guided tour to one of the region’s unique Forest Finn farms, where the history and heritage of the Forest Finn people still live on.

 

Along the way, you will learn about the fascinating culture, traditions, and way of life of the Forest Finns.

 

The tour includes stops at the family memorial monument and the burial island of Akkasari before visiting one of the historic Forest Finn farms: Purala, Juhola, or Abbortjernsberg.

 

At the farm, you will have the opportunity to see carved symbols, protective troll crosses, a smoke cabin, a burial site, and a traditional smoke sauna. While access to the smoke cabins cannot always be guaranteed, the smoke sauna is open to visitors, and here you will learn about the customs and rituals associated with traditional smoke sauna bathing.
