Storytelling – Forest Finn Culture and Folklore
Experience the fascinating history of the Forest Finns
Join us on an atmospheric journey into the unique culture of the Forest Finns, their close-to-nature way of life, and their shamanistic beliefs in the forces of nature. Hear the ancient language come alive through rune chanting and old incantations against snakes, bleeding, and illness. Learn about traditions connected to burial islets, symbolic rituals, mieskuva, and the mysterious “smyg trees.” And if you dare – reach your hand into the troll bag.
When the weather allows, we gather around the fire with a view of Lake Røgden and the ancient slash-and-burn fields that still tell the story of the Forest Finns’ way of life.
